Every morning and evening I take the following readings:
– Blood Sugar – blood testing kit
– Ketone mMol urinary.
Ketosis and low blood sugar are closely linked. If you are in ketosis, and have eaten something you think may have broken your metabolic state of ketosis – check your blood sugar level. If its elevated, especially rapidly, then yes – its kicking you out of ketosis.
The last few days I’ve been drifting in and out of ketosis, and thats not pleasant. You get used to it, but it feels weird. Something wasnt right. I had to figure out, fast! (just because).
Read all the ingredients. Then read them again.
Turns out the XTS Pre-workout has everything you need for turbo mode – but they’ve added one SINGLE ingredient amongst many many ingredients that was the little devil causing the damage. I’ll save you the time it took me to figure this out on myself as the test subject.

For some unknown reason, that defies logic, they have added (about 1/3 of the way down the list) Waxy Maize and Fructose. The two WORST sugars you can put into your system. Like a cup of sand in your petrol tank. You’d literally be better off with a tablespoon of white table sugar. (But dont do that).
THAT was kicking me out of ketosis – Waxy Maize and Fructose.
Im glad I found it. I am sitting with a full tub of top level pre-workout that I cant really use, but the excercise was a good example of what to look out for.
